Started in 1974 as Evans Bookstore, Fertile Ground is one of Toronto's oldest independent bookstores. Evans Bookstore started up to meet an unmet need for a specialized business bookstore in Toronto. Over the years Fertile Ground has expanded its selection to provide a range of materials including accounting, management, design, and computing. In 2005 the store has expanded the selection to provide books on the environment and environmental business. Fertile Ground has a history of interacting with the community.

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, Fertile Ground is situated in a picturesque Victorian town house which has been recently renovated to reflect our new environmental selection. Our location is minutes away from Young and Bloor, a major transit hub and therefore is easily accessible via public transit, bicycle, and foot.
